Cortona, in province of Arezzo, in Tuscany

Cortona is the cultural and commercial capital of the "Val di Chiana", near Arezzo.

Cortona is located in the eastern part of Tuscany, very close to the border with Umbria and not far from Trasimeno Lake. The provincial capitals Arezzo and Perugia are close, easily accessible from major roads in a few minutes.

The town of Cortona was founded by the Etruscans and it is one of the most ancient and important of the whole area, where you can still find important signs of what were the Etruscan and Roman civilizations.

The most famous "son" of Cortona is probably the painter Luca Signorelli, and some of his paintings as well as pictures of Fra Angelico are in the cathedral. The urban landscape is composed of houses dating back to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, surrounded by the walls of the 4th Century AD.

In the village you can still breathe the air of quiet and friendly country, in markets and in the main square you can stop to chat with friends, leaving away stress jittery.
